Back on Blogger!

Say what you will about Blogger. But the site was never down. The same cannot be said for Tumblr.
I gave it a chance, using it as my primary site for the last few weeks, I wasn't happy with it. It just wasn't for me. So I'm back on Blogger where I started.
Here's a Batman drawing I did today. If you're interested in bidding on it, go to http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230560877828

Blog Is Moving To Tumblr

Well, I woudn't say "moving", I've had my Tumblr account for a year or so. But I'll be posting on there instead of Blogger for the foreseeable future. It seems that Tumblr has much more to offer in terms of searchability, sharing of posts, and general exposure to a wider audience.

Here's the link: http://michaelpowellart.tumblr.com

I hope you'll update your RSS reader or "follow" me if you have a Tumblr account.

30 Characters Challenge #4. Trogg!

Genetically engineered by the diabolital Dr. Genome, Trogg is an enhanced clone of a neanderthal. His strength is more than twenty times (perhaps greater) that of his genetic progentior. His intelligence, however, is somewhat limited.

Dr. Genome controls Trogg through implants he has placed in the creature’s brain.

Day 03 of the 30 Characters Challenge: Hercules!

For tonight’s posting I decided to create my own version of the Greek demigod, Hercules (seen here wearing the Nemian lion skin). Time was limited, so I went with a simple headshot with some quick digital airbrushing added over the pencils. Enjoy!

Another Sexy Centauress

Sold this one on Ebay over the weekend.

30 Character Challenge, Day 001: Xaphan

Robert Xaphan was once human. One night he brought home what he thought was a beautiful woman, but what was in actuality a shape-shifting succubus. This particular species of succubus transfered its demonic curse via sexual intercourse, and the following night Robert regained consciosness to find himself transformed into a demon.

Because of his metamorphosis Xaphan has left his former life, and he now prowls the night, feeding on the life-force of those unfortunate enough to cross his path, all the while hoping that there exists some mystical means by which he might be cured.

Powers: Flight, regeneration, strength, speed, agility, fiery breath

Limitations: If Xaphan does not absorb the life force of a human at least every three days, he will become significantly weak and die.

Nude Fairy

You'll notice that I've stopped numbering the drawings. Just not feeling it anymore. There's no need to pressure myself to update everyday if I'm not able to. Still, thanks for checking out the blog, and I'll continue to post as often as possible.

286: Sovereign Preview Panel

In this preview panel from the Arcadia Anthology #6, Sovereign confronts a bank robber in a dark alley (and that's Ominus in the background tagging along).

280: Flying Centauress (Colors)

For some reason the sky came out much lighter on the scan. I'll go back and touch it up to make it more visible when I get a chance.

278: Doc Terror Captures Crystal WIP

This drawing is so unbelievably rough.

And just so you know, I didn't mean for the poses to look this suggestive.

Really, I didn't.

277: Xena Gladiatrix 2 WIP

The only completed drawings I've done in the last two days have been recreations, so to keep things new I'm posting some Works In Progress, something I haven't done in quite a while. This is the bottom segment of a taller Xena Gladiatrix commission. Her sword will be composited later. Thankfully this is a commission for a high resolution scan only.

275: Elf Archer Centauress FOR SALE

For those who've been following the blog, I'm sure you noticed that I haven't updated in a few days. That's because my son, Nathan, was hospitalized with what we thought was Menningitis, but turned out to be a viral infection that ran its course. We're thankful for his speedy recovery. We're back home now, and things are on their way to getting back to normal.

And so...tonight's Ebay offering is an Elf Archer Centauress. If you're interested in owning this piece of art, go to

272: Mermaid on the Beach

This commission will be colored with prismacolors in the coming days.

271: Xena Gladiatrix

I finished this commission last month, but I never got around to posting it to the blog. Yep, that's Xena under there. In a companion piece I'm working on she has the mask off. Stay tuned for that later in the month.
I colored this digitally, with my primordial coloring software. It's not perfect, but it's my best attempt to date.

269: Mumm-Ra and Cheetara (COLORS)

I haven't updated in a few days because I've been sick with a cold. But I'm back now, almost good as new.

I'll do my best to catch up on the lost days with some double posts.
